Bonnie Lemieux
RN, BSN, CCM, COHC
Nurse Case Manager Supervisor

Bonnie supervises our Vermont nursing staff and covers southern Vermont and northern Massachusetts. She has been a Registered Nurse since 1987 and is licensed in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and Massachusetts. In addition to her experience as a Nurse Case Manager, Bonnie spent nine years as the on-site Occupational Health Nurse and Safety Manager for a major Vermont employer. While in this position her duties included wellness programs, first aid and CPR training, OSHA compliance, ergonomic consultation and the overall case management of workplace injuries and workers’ compensation claims. Among her many affiliations, Bonnie works with the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the Vermont Fire Fighters Academy and the Girl Scouts of America. Bonnie’s background makes her the ideal Nurse Case Manager and true to the philosophy at VRS, she consistently endeavors to meet and exceed the expectations of all who rely on her expertise.

Sandra Cappello
RN, CCM, PGAP

Sandra has 30 years’ experience as an RN. She has been a nurse case manager for thirteen years. Sandra has a strong background in resolving catastrophic cases. In addition to workers’ comp, she has handled Long Term Disability and Longshore files. Sandra is known for her ability to move even the most difficult files to resolution. Sandra covers southern and central Connecticut, southern Rhode Island and western Massachusetts as needed. Sandra is licensed in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Laurie Martin
MA, CRC, CEAS, PGAP

Laurie joined the VRS Team in May 2018 and serves as a Vocational Counselor and Ergonomic Specialist in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. She has a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and has earned a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS) designation. Laurie has been a Vocational Counselor since 1997 and currently serves on the Vocational Rehabilitation Provider Advisory Board for the State of New Hampshire.

Jeannine Ares
MHS, CRC

Jeannine joined VRS in January 2023 and serves as our Manager of Field Case Management in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University and a Master of Health Science degree from Louisiana State University School of Allied Health. Jeannine has been in the Workers’ Compensation industry since 1998. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) with experience in medical case management, vocational rehabilitation, as well as labor market surveys and expert testimony. Jeannine has been an Operations Manager since 2005, with experience in all six New England states. She also spent two years developing and managing a national network of independent case managers and regional case management companies, who provided a variety of industry services to injured workers and customers across the country.

Liz joined the VRS team as our Director of Business Development in January of 2021. An accomplished professional, Liz has worked in the insurance industry since 2000. Her varied experience includes working for a large LTD carrier early in her career followed by three years as a CRC certified Vocational Counselor, and over 16 years as a Senior Account Executive where she earned numerous distinctions and awards for performance. Liz’s energy and breadth of knowledge, coupled with her many professional relationships, make her the ideal person to help take VRS to the next level. Liz is a graduate of Springfield College where she was a two-sport athlete. A mother of three, she enjoys traveling to new places with her family, spending time at the ocean and supporting animal rescue, including rescuing two dogs of her own. Liz is a founding board member and current Vice President of Kid’s Chance of Connecticut.

Kelly Darmon

Kelly serves as our Director of Sales. A seasoned Account Management Executive with over 20 years experience in the industry, she is the recipient of numerous “Top Performer” awards. Kelly is highly respected for her strong communication and customer service skills as well as her broad span of industry product and service knowledge. Kelly is a graduate of Framingham State College where she was a four year varsity field hockey player and served as co-captain. A mother of three, Kelly enjoys attending her kids sporting events and encompasses work-family balance.

Shelley Casey
Administrative Supervisor

Shelley has been a member of the VRS team since October of 2018. A few of her primary duties include billing and A/R; however, as with all the professionals on our Administrative Staff, Shelley can be relied upon for assistance in many areas. Prior to joining VRS, Shelley spent 20 years in the banking and finance industry and brought with her considerable customer service experience. In her spare time, Shelley enjoys reading and camping at the lake with her family and dog.

Karissa Covey
IT Support Specialist

Karissa joined the VRS team in October 2011. A small sampling of her many duties includes overseeing our day-to-day AR efforts, maintaining our web-site and assisting with our quarterly newsletter. Prior to VRS, Karissa had a Marketing and Business Management background which she continues to use to benefit the company. In her spare time, she enjoys camping and boating with her family as well as playing sports with her two sons and taking care of her animals.
